The Recollect priests established the parish in 1874 with Fr. Pedro Nola co de San Juan being the first parish priest. The original wood church stood until 1887, when Fr. Francisco Ortuouste built the present structure with stone and concrete in 1920. Damaged by the earthquake in 2013, it was repaired again in 2016.
